“A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue, or who is frail aged”

Our Carers Groups provide valuable information and support services for family members, partners and loved ones of Umbrella clients. The aim of these programs is to help them care for their loved one and also to understand their own needs and what supports are available.
I am very grateful for the support provided to my mom when I was away. My mom enjoyed the everyday companionship with your Support Worker who is wonder and caring. I will definitely request more respite services from Umbrella in the times of need.
The program is specifically for carers from Multicultural backgrounds (CaLD). Activities for the Carer’s Group are organised monthly usually on Thursdays and include excursions, outings, visits to galleries, restaurants, parks and other attractions. Transport and light refreshments are provided. To be eligible to attend this program you must be an unpaid carer of a CaLD client. Each person is responsible for their own lunch.
Respite Care is assistance provided to Carers and enables them to have a short break from their caring role. Umbrella provides a staff member to stay with the client while the carer is having a break. Respite is usually provided in blocks with a minimum period of 2 hours.
